Sexy Flowers – Authors In Bloom Blog Hop/Enter to win a Kindle or Nook!

April 9, 2012

by Alicia & Roy Street

The whole reason flowers make themselves gorgeous and put out those incredible fragrances is to attract a pollinator.

Hey, a good pollinator is hard to find. Some are monogamous, devoted to one particular flower. Others play the field. But all are seduced by a strong, sweet fragrance. And plants have evolved particular scents just so they can snare Mr. Right.

The association of fragrance and sex that began in the early days of Egypt, Mesopotamia and India is not imaginary. Unlike the other senses, our sense of smell sneaks past the conscious mind and links directly to the most primitive part of our brain. The emotional region. The place of spontaneous memories and intuition. The place where we feel sexual desire.

The relationship between fragrance and seduction is a central theme in our Daphne Award winning rom-com mystery APHRODISIAC. Saylor Oz, our amateur sleuth protagonist, finds herself the unwitting keeper of a secret ancient perfume that launches her into a deadly seven-day race against a killer.

Aside from the grand prize of a Kindle or Nook, as part of the Authors In Bloom blog hop, we’re giving away a digital copy of APHRODISIAC.

To be eligible  to win  you must –

1. Leave a comment below telling us which flower you think is the sexiest. :)

2. Sign up for our mailing list updates HERE

To be eligible for the AUTHORS IN BLOOM GRAND PRIZE of a Kindle or Nook,  plus a $25 gift card, you have to copy the short phrases posted on each  of the participating authors blogs, arrange all of the numbered phrases into a complete vignette, and submit it to the Authors In Bloom landing page at A Cozy Reader’s Corner.

Here are our phrases —

Line 95: Love is a powerful force.

Line 96: Love conquers all.

And here’s our recipe contribution to Authors In Bloom to celebrate Love in the Spring!

Love Potion: In a small pot, simmer a half cup of jojoba oil and, stirring clockwise, add in nine drops each of the following essential oils: cinnamon, jasmine, lavender, ambergris, musk, orange blossom, rose, violet, and ylang-ylang. Let cool and store in a dark glass container. Dab yourself with it as you would your favorite perfume before a night out (or a night in) to drive your loved one wild.

Go here  for the full list of authors in the blog hop!  Tour ends April 18th at 11:59pm EST. The winner(s) will be announced by April 20th.

Good luck! And thanks for joining us for our Authors In Bloom Giveaway!

Love flowers but I’m allergic to perfume and Lavender. Bummer. So I’m usually a fragrance free girl, but I’ll have to try some of these essential oils. Thanks. Oh, and I hope that things are quieting down for you both btw. :)

I am If I get it I’ll give it to my mom I don’t need it and she needs an easier way to read. She had an almost fatal heart attack in January so it would be something nice I could give her. I’d like to win a little thing along the way for me too! ;)
